1st Question: What is aikido about?
Answer: aikido is a non-competitive martial art offering a
way
to get the harmony of all man's vital energies.

2nd Question: Where was it born from?
Answer: aikido's origins are in Aiki Jutsu, a secret martial art
practiced in fights. At the beginning of 20th century Sokaku
Takeda opened his clan school to external practitioners;
among his disciples there was Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969)
the future founder of aikido

3rd Question: What about Ueshiba aikido?
Answer: Ueshiba aikido is made up of staff's techniques,
Takeda school sword's techniques and naked hands'
techniques coming from Aiki Jutsu.
All these techniques aim to get victory through peace.

1st Question: Why practicing aikido?
Answer: aikido is a self-defense practice offering many
techniques, often spectacular, to avoid any kind of attack by one or more
persons. But aikido is not only a body discipline, it
becomes a way of life.

2nd Question: Who can practice aikido?
Answer: aikido, because of its own characteristics, can be
practiced by anybody, whatever sex or age he or she is.

3rd Question: Which are the used weapons?
Answer: Weapons used by Kobayashi school are:
JO (short wooden staff), BOKKEN (wooden sword)
TANTO (wooden dagger) and the body.

1st Question: What should I wear on tatami?
Answer: aikido is practiced wearing keikogi (kimono)
hakama (for more than 1st dan), obi (belt) and zoori (slippers).

2nd Question: What is hakama?
Answer: hakama is a divided skirt usually worn in Japan
as ceremony dress. In the Dojo it's worn by ranks higher than 1st dan.
